A GP referral is not required to see one of our SEM Registrars, your physio or allied health practitioner can refer you directly to one of our SEM registrars.
A GP or medical specialist referral is required to see an SEM Physician (Dr Shaw) for you to claim a Medicare rebate. Your physio or allied health practitioner can refer you to see Dr Shaw, but you must also get a valid referral from your GP prior to your appointment. THIS IS A MEDICARE REQUIREMENT if you wish to claim a rebate for the consultation.
GP referrals are valid for 12 months from the date of your visit. Other medical specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
We do not see Third Party or Workers Compensation claims. However on referral from your GP you can seek a specialist opinion on your injury from one of our doctors. This will be booked as a privately funded consultation (normal private consultation fee applies and payment is required on the day), and you can then seek reimbursement through your insurer. Report writing and direct communication with Workers Compensation/Third Party Insurers will not be undertaken, but a letter of opinion will be sent back to your GP/nominated treating doctor
